What’s Joinavision all about?

And how do we get involved?

These were two of the main questions we had after our talk at the Freemind Festival last weekend. It made us both realise that our talk needs more tweaking if people aren’t entirely sure! So I thought I’d better take the time to explain here so we can prepare the content for our next talk.

Joinavision has many layers. Initially it was set up to help connect local like-minded people. As we grew we created telegram groups for every county in England, pages in Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as many overseas. However, once connected we then want people to get active in their area. This is often the hard bit – it was for both of us at the beginning too!

Stepping out of our comfort zone is something that holds us all back! When I began researching and realising people around me weren’t interested in all the mind-blowing things I was learning I withdrew from friends and family. I started feeling like I really was the outsider I’d suspected I was and that I just didn’t fit into ‘normal’ society. I became distrustful but deep down I was angry. Angry at what I was learning and then angry at those who didn’t want to learn it. Once than anger subsided I found it easier to be around people and once we began Joinavision it began to get even easier because I started to meet many people who saw the world in the way I did!

We can talk ourselves out of anything; people won’t like me, I’m not very sociable, I won’t fit in, what have I got to offer are some of the things we say to ourselves to stop us from taking that next step. The power of our mind is incredible.

There’s a great phrase, ‘If you think you can do something or you think you can’t – you’re right.’

That really sums it up for me. If you want to get active – really want to – you will. If you’re still listening to that voice of fear that holds you back you won’t.

What we want to see is a world full of individual tribes or communities – just like it used to be in the past. Each one will have people with all the skills needed to create a thriving community – growers, herbalists, educators, clothes makers, builders, musicians, story tellers, free-birth practitioners, carers… the list goes on. We then want those groups to be connected to others so if they travel they know exactly who to contact or connect with in the next county or even country. A bit like a web with lines connecting us all.

Our telegram groups are a place to share other local groups – we aren’t precious that everyone has to be following Joinavision! All we want is for people to connect with others. If you know of meet-ups in your local area please share them on your local telegram page or our FB pages.

Once connected you really never know where that will take you but I do know it will empower you and you really won’t ever look back.

Our lives changed forever the day we created Joinavision. We feel excited about our future, connected to more people than ever before and our children are flourishing by being around so many incredible people. For the first time in my life I feel deeply connected to people around me – most of whom I hadn’t met two years ago.

Once connected and active we can support you in getting what you’re doing out there. Please post regularly on our FB page and telegram pages. Let us know of an event and we’ll post it on our website. We already have a growing business directory there and will soon be creating a what’s on page too. Then we can really start making changes. Creating groups for pregnant mum’s and soon-to-be-dads will show them the benefits to having a home birth or even a free birth. They’ll then be around more people who have chosen to home educate their children and learn about that area. There’s so much we can do but there’s one thing for sure – if you don’t get out of your comfort zone nothing’s going to change.

If we can help you in any way please do let us know by emailing us at joinavision@protonmail.com. This is a new journey for us too and we’re always open to suggestions. Many thanks and have a lovely weekend!
