You Can’t Grow Without Being Uncomfortable

This is my favourite saying of Kazia’s and really made me change the way I treated challenges that come my way.

If we all knew that every time we stepped out of our comfort zone we were, in fact, growing it would make each one of us so much more willing to experience new things.

Stuck In Our Comfort Zone

It’s easy to get stuck in our comfort zone but does this fulfil us? Since Joinavision began myself and Kazia have experienced things we never thought we would have. At first these were so hard to do – learning to trust and work together when we really had no big plan set up for Joinavision, doing presentations, interviewing people for our podcasts, hosting camps, expressing our feelings on social media. These are just some of the things we’ve done that are so far out of our comfort zone it’s unreal!

What Do You Want To Achieve In Life?

Whatever you’re after achieving you can make happen – the power is all in your hands. I used to set goals – running a business, selling it, having a family, travelling, meeting Mr Right. They were all part of my vision for my future in my 20s. In my 30s I was told I wouldn’t be able to have children but thankfully we’ve been fortunate enough to prove the Dr who told me that wrong four times over!

“Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”

We don’t have to set goals but we can have some idea of where we want to get to. John Lenon’s phrase, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans’ is so perfectly put. It’s so easy to get caught up in the treadmill of life whilst forgetting what our actual dreams are. It’s also to feel scared to come off that treadmill. Questions such as, Who are we? What will people think? race through our heads when all that really matters is what we think of ourselves, not what anyone else does.

Seize The Day

If you feel stuck in a rut look at your life and decide what changes you can make to help get you to where you really want to be. Share your thoughts with people you know who will support you. Maybe someone you know has done something similar? Remind yourself that every time you step out of your comfort zone you are growing. What more could we wish for?
