Introducing The Very Wonderful Mick!

We are very lucky to be able to let everyone know of another great team member who has joined us. We met Mick in the summer of 2020 at a camp that was being held locally. His charm, good looks and great sense of humour (I promise you he didn’t tell me to say that!) plus his hard-work ethic makes him great fun to work with.

Myself and Kazia weren’t the most confident at that stage and I remember talking myself out of a number of suggestions Mick gave me. A big one was him asking me to create an audio book for Celestia using my voice – I couldn’t think of anything worse than hearing my voice for hours on end!

However, with his constant support and gentle encouragement he’s helping us build our confidence – like many of the other team members we have now. I’ve even done two voiceovers while he puts the video together and brings it all to life. I can’t quite manage the hours needed to read Celestia out loud – not just yet!

Joinavision Channel on YouTube

A while ago we created our own YouTube Channel. This was as an aside to the Joinavision Meets channel which is hosted by Venetia Campbell who interviews people in our group. Creating these videos is much harder than it looks and takes up an awful lot of time. All of Mick’s videos will be uploaded to our channel which you can find on our website as well as our other talks, podcasts etc.

Are our opinions only serving to divide us?

A Motion Content Creator

Mick is a motion content creator specialising in 3D video production. He can lend his hand to pretty much anything in this field – Editing / animation / 3D / illustrations / Photo retouching. He’s a huge help to us as we’ve had to learn all these skills in a short amount of time but can never get the finish that he can with his amount of experience.

Mick is a passionate gardener and is now the very proud owner (or renter is it?) of two allotments. One is the poshest one in town! We’ve got so many ideas of how to show people ways to improve their lives and as we all know growing our own veg is one of these.

However, for our videos one of our first ones had to tackle our divisive society. We really hope you like what we created.

Book Recommendations

Each blog I’ll be giving book recommendations too – either relevant to the person or subject the blog is about or one of our own recommendations.

One of Mick’s favourite books is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Atlas Shrugged envisions a world where the ‘men of talent’ – the great innovators, producers and creators – have mysteriously disappeared.

Mick very kindly said he enjoys my work too. I’m onto the sequel but time is my biggest challenge!

The year is 2130, Earth is run by corporations, the people slaves to the system. They live and work in large tower blocks, their every move tracked by a huge surveillance network.
