It’s Foraging Friday and this week’s plant is Burdock which velcro emanates from!
Habitat: waste ground, hedgerows, wood edges, river edges.
Parts used: Leaves, roots, seeds, stem.
Food: young leaves and stem, raw or better steamed.
Roots: in spring (beginning 2nd year) or autumn (end of 1st year) cooked, slice thinly/grated and fried, also fine chopped for tea.
Seeds: sprouted (be aware getting them out can be very skin itching)
Medicine: Leaf as poultice for boils, antiseptic, bruises.
Root: as a decoction for eczema, boils, psoriasis, detoxing, excellent blood cleansing, arthritis, gout, release waste products from cells.
Velcro emanates from burdock. Nature has it all!
Know exactly what you are gathering, be grateful, be responsible to self.
Do you just read, how about going into nature, see this for yourself,
