Travel was one of the first things we really started missing when the world turned upside down.
Rather than dwelling on what we couldn’t do we put it out of our heads and used our energy to create Joinavision with the aim to build community wherever you are in the world.
However, it remained very close to our hearts and when the world starting to open up again we couldn’t wait to starting creating getaways with a difference. So many holidays don’t give you an idea of what it’s like to actually live in that country. Our holidays will give people the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a cultural experience and show you and your family a different way of life. They will also support the local community who have suffered so much the last two years through a lack of tourism.
We know what you are thinking, how can they be thinking of travel at a time when climate change is such a hot topic? Well we wanted to clear a few things up; we don’t believe that a plane carrying hundreds of people is a bad thing compared to private jets and yacht carrying a small few. The super rich are very well known for taking separate ways of travel to their family even though they are going to the same place! Private jets are 5 to 14 times more polluting than commercial planes (per passenger), and 50 times more polluting than trains. Yet it’s easy for them to ramp up the fear and make out that we have bare the brunt for decisions we had no part in. If it was down to us all our planes and cars would be running on hemp oil. Sadly, many of the environmentally ways to travel are kept from us as there is no money in them so for the time being we are reliant on the fuel they choose for us – fuel that supports the very wealthy few.
We are told to use our bags for life, turn off our lights and make sure our plastic pot is in the right bin which then they ship our rubbish off to another country to deal with.
If our governments are genuinely serious about climate change there are many things they can do to help return our planet to its natural condition. Sadly, there’s no money in this so they continue to focus on changing our diesel/petrol cars to electric ones and other suggestions that continue to support large corporations.
We are aware that by travelling we need to support large corporations to get there but once there we will be supporting the small independent businesses and families that do care about their environment and the planet. Wherever we are in the world building community remains a key focus and our holidays will reflect this.
